Questions schools raise
Answers from Catholic Textbook Project.
Here is how we address the questions adoption teams most often bring to us.
01How do you protect historical accuracy?+
We ground our books in primary sources, peer-reviewed research, respected historians, rigorous fact-checking, and multiple rounds of editorial review.
02Are these history books or religion books?+
They are history textbooks. We allow the Church to be known as a real historical actor—in the full context of people, events, institutions, achievements, and failures—because leaving her out would leave the history incomplete.
03Will the program meet our standards?+
Our curricula meet or exceed most state standards, and we provide state correlation charts. Your team can compare those documents and our scope and sequence with any diocesan expectations.
04What helps teachers begin successfully?+
We provide chapter-by-chapter pacing guides developed with classroom teachers, along with curated primary sources, maps, videos, and timelines. Teachers receive a practical starting point while retaining professional judgment.
05Are flexible or lower-cost formats available?+
Yes. We offer eBooks for every title as a flexible, affordable option. An eBook pilot can be a low-cost way for a school to place the books in a classroom and evaluate them with students before a larger print adoption.
06Can schools use state funding to purchase the books?+
Often, yes. Because we publish secular history textbooks, our books are regularly approved for state-funded purchases. Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska are important examples. If you are unsure about your state, contact Thomas and we will help verify the options available to your school.
